7/11 app

7-eleven redesign: transforming a routine loyalty app into a context-aware commercial engine through circadian design and predictive cross-selling.

problem

Most express shopping apps are static. A user opening the app at 8:00 AM for coffee and a user checking in at 11:00 PM for an energy drink see the same interface. The traditional approach misses contextual triggers and overloads the screen with irrelevant products, which leads to lower conversion rates and longer time to completion. Payment and loyalty card screens are used as dead zones, generating no revenue for the business.

solution

Integration of a contextual predictive upsell system based on behavioral economics and time of day. Contextual split interface: In the morning, the application greets the user with a soft, light theme and a focus on breakfast combos (coffee + croissant). At night, the interface seamlessly switches to a contrasting neon mode, offering quick snacks (onigiri) and energy drinks that match the patterns of the city at night. Interface upsells: The “Grab it again” zone is integrated directly under the contactless loyalty card screen. The script analyzes past purchases and instantly offers to add a complementary product to the cart in one click right before scanning at the checkout. This solution directly maximizes average check (AOV) without creating visual noise.
